A lifelong Lake Charles resident who built his practice on one belief: the people of Southwest Louisiana deserve honest, personal, results-driven legal representation.
"My job isn't to be the hero of your story. It's to guide you through one of the hardest seasons of your life."
— Devin FontenotWhen you're facing a divorce, fighting for your kids, navigating an adoption, or dealing with a criminal charge — you need more than a law firm. You need a team that listens, tells you the truth, and genuinely fights for what matters most to you and your family.
Devin Fontenot has been serving families in Lake Charles and Southwest Louisiana for over 10 years. He grew up here. He went to Barbe High School. He earned his degree at McNeese. He and his wife Jessica chose to come back and raise their family in this community after law school — not because it was the most convenient option, but because it's home.
He opened his own firm in 2020 because he wanted to build the kind of practice he believed clients actually deserved: small enough to know your name, experienced enough to get real results.

Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana
Attorney for domestic abuse survivors
Barbe High School graduate
After graduating from Southern University Law Center in 2015 — cum laude — Devin returned to Lake Charles and joined the Calcasieu Parish Public Defender's Office. He represented juveniles: young people caught in the legal system, often with no one else in their corner. That experience shaped everything about the way he practices law today.
It taught him to listen before advising. To explain things in plain language, not legal jargon. To fight hard even when the odds aren't in your favor. And to never treat a client like a file number.
In 2020, Devin opened his own firm on Hodges Street in Lake Charles — following in his family's entrepreneurial footsteps and creating the kind of practice he'd always believed clients deserved. A place where clients are treated like people, not case numbers. Where calls get returned. Where honesty and results come before anything else.
Today, Devin focuses primarily on family law — divorce, custody, child support, and adoption — as well as criminal defense and personal injury. He's also the attorney for Oasis: A Safe Haven, a Lake Charles-based domestic abuse treatment center serving survivors across Southwest Louisiana. His community is his clients, and his clients are his community.
Outside the office, Devin is a devoted husband to Jessica and father to their two sons, Warner and Owen. He coaches youth sports, stays active in the Lake Charles community, and firmly believes that a great attorney is also a great neighbor.
Three principles that guide every case, every client, every conversation.
We tell you what your case actually looks like — not what you want to hear. Honest expectations from the first conversation mean no surprises later and better decisions throughout.
From your first call to your court date, our firm keeps you informed at every step. You always know where your case stands, what comes next, and who to call with questions.
We don't measure success by getting through the case — we measure it by where you and your family are on the other side. Every strategy is built around outcomes that actually matter to you.
Real people who know your name, return your calls, and fight for your family every day.

Best attorney in town! He helped me through my divorce, custody, and adoption and made a stressful process so much easier. I am extremely thankful for everything he did. You won't get anyone better than him.
Devin and his staff are professional, courteous, and work hard for their clients. We used Devin for child custody, divorce, and intrafamily adoption. All cases were handled respectfully and we could not have had better outcomes.
Devin was the absolute best choice for our custody and adoption! He was down to earth and all business in court, did everything possible to ensure the best outcome for our family. He nails it every single time.
